- Sweet potato: Though sweet potatoes can vary in size dramatically, 2-3 medium sized sweet potatoes are generally enough for 4 servings. Choose sweet potatoes that are firm and free from blemishes.
- Avocado oil: Use a high heat, neutral oil like avocado oil to cook these in. Coconut oil is another good option.

- If your sweet potatoes have soaked up all the oil from cooking, it can be helpful to add a tiny drizzle of additional oil along with the spices at the end to help them stick to the potatoes.
- Sauteed sweet potatoes will take around 15 minutes to cook (depending on how big the pieces are and how full the pan is). Because of this, using a high heat oil such as avocado oil or refined coconut oil is advised over something like extra virgin olive oil.
