Kombucha is delicious all by itself, but sometimes it's fun to dress it up and create a refreshing and beautiful mocktail. This lemon blueberry mocktail with kombucha is lightly flavored and crisp, a delightful non-alcoholic drink.

3 simple ingredients is all that you will need-- the kombucha of your choice, blueberries (fresh or frozen), and a splash of lemonade.

This mocktail is refreshing and can be enjoyed by everyone, even children and pregnant women. (Please note, store bought kombucha is considered non-alcoholic (under .5%), but you may still want to exercise caution when consuming.

The addition of blueberries add color and flavor, and the lemonade adds a wonderful brightness and sweetness.

By contrast, if you are in the market for a tasty alcoholic cocktail recipe, try this Casamigos Margarita!

For another non-alcoholic drink, try an Arnold Palmer, an adrenal cocktail, or a delicious Blackberry Strawberry Banana Smoothie.

Ingredients for lemon blueberry mocktails

  • 4 oz. kombucha. I used Brew Dr. Superberry kombucha.
  • 4 oz. lemonade
  • handful of blueberries (you can use fresh blueberries or frozen blueberries)
  • lemon for garnish

How to make a mocktail with kombucha

In a cocktail glass, muddle blueberries until they all burst.

Variations

  • Limeade works as a great variation of this fresh blueberry mocktail. Blueberry and lime juice is a tasty combo and makes this drink a little closer to a blueberry mojito mocktail.
  • Lime juice or Lemon juice. If you want a low sugar mocktail, swap out the lemonade for plain lemon juice (or lime juice!).
  • Sweeten with simple syrup or homemade demerara syrup.

Substitutions for Kombucha in a mocktail

If you don't like the taste of kombucha or would prefer not to use it, try one of these substitutions for kombucha that will still yield a delicious mocktail recipe.

  • Club Soda or sparkling water. There are sooooo many flavors out their to experiment with and sparkling water can be a great low sugar or no sugar option. I love to use Spindrift, because it is made with only real fruit juice and carbonated water.
  • Water Kefir. Water kefir is similar to kombucha in that it is a probiotic drink. Water kefir is made with sugar and water instead of tea, which is how kombucha is made.
  • Ginger Ale. Use your favorite brand (I like schweppes) for a tasty swap that still gives a lot of bubbly effervescence.
  • Ginger Beer. Like ginger ale, but more gingery. I like using ginger beer as a base for cocktails and mocktails because its very zippy and fragrant.
