Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels are a fun take on the classic appetizer with all of its delicious components including spicy fresh jalapenos, cream cheese, and bacon all rolled up in a tortilla for an easy grab and go snack.

Tortilla pinwheels are a great option for game day, Easter, or any potluck! They are easy to prepare ahead of time and in large or small quantities depending on how many guests you have.

This no-fuss appetizer only requires 10-15 minutes of hands-on time, but the result is a crowd pleaser that your guests will keep coming back for.

For another tasty take on jalapeno poppers, try this appetizer recipe for Jalapeno Popper Wonton Cups or this Jalapeno Chicken Salad. These Crispy jalapeno Popper Chicken Breasts are one of my favorite dishes.

Ingredients

  • Tortillas: 8-10 inch tortillas work best for roll ups, as they require less work and you get more pinwheels out of each one.
  • Jalapenos: I used fresh, but you can also use pickled if you prefer. For a milder taste, remove the seeds before dicing.
  • Cream Cheese: Allow to soften at room temperature for easier spreading.
  • Greek Yogurt: Or sour cream. Either will help lighten the filling and make it easier to spread.
  • Crumbled Bacon: Leftover bacon works great here if you have it.
  • Shredded Cheese: Shredded cheddar or a blend like mexican or monterey jack.
  • Seasoning: A simple blend of onion powder, garlic powder, and salt.

How to Make Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels

Step 1. To a mixing bowl, add softened cream cheese and greek yogurt and mixing together until completely combined. You can use a hand mixer or a whisk.

Step 2. Stir in salt, onion power, and garlic powder.

Step 3. Add crumbled bacon, minced jalapeno, and shredded cheese.

Step 4. Stir to combine.

Step 5. Place tortilla on your work service and add ⅕ of the mixture to the middle of the tortilla and use a small spatula to spread it in an even layer.

Step 6. Roll up tightly. Repeat for the remaining tortillas.

Step 7. Wrap tightly in foil or plastic wrap. You can wrap them individually or all together. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 24 hours.

Step 8. When you are ready to serve, unwrap the roll ups. Use a sharp knife to trim the ends, and then cut each tortilla into 1 inch pinwheels and serve.

Recipe Tips

  • Remove the jalapeno seeds if you prefer a milder flavor.
  • Refrigerating helps the flavors to mix together and also helps the roll ups be easier to cut.
