Learn how to make frozen hash browns in the air fryer so that you can enjoy a delicious fast food favorite at home. These air fryer frozen hash brown patties are crispy, golden, potato patties and they perfect accompaniment to your morning breakfast.

Making hashbrowns in the airfryer is the best way to prepare them, truly. I used to pop them in the toaster, but they never came out crispy enough. Making them in the oven takes too long, and again, not crispy enough.

But the air fryer? The air fryer makes hash brown patties from frozen, perfect every time. They are even better than Mcdonald's hash browns! They take the perfect amount of time to set them, go and fry up an egg or prepare some sausage, and come back to perfectly crispy frozen hash brown patties!

The airfryer I use is the Ninja Foodi 8-qt. 12-in-1 Deluxe XL Pressure Cooker & Air Fryer. I am a HUGE fan of it. The Ninja Foodi is incredibly user friendly and I am excited to keep getting more use out of it. It has settings for air frying, Instant Pot, Dehydrator, Broil, Sous Vide, and more. For now, I am sticking to making all things air fried.

What will you need to make frozen hashbrowns in the air fryer?

Just frozen hash brown patties! Seriously, it's that easy. The airfryer is great at preparing frozen foods as it is quick and most often doesn't need to preheat.

Since frozen hash brown patties already come pre-fried (they are shredded potatoes that are formed into a rectangle, deep fried, and then frozen), there is no need to spray them or brush them with extra oil. They are ready to go, as is.

How to make air fryer hash brown patties

The hash browns are already formed, you just have to place them in the air fryer basket. Place them in the basket in a single layer without them touching. You wanted to make sure they have enough room for the air to circulate well. My particular model fit 3 hash brown patties.

Close lid and set the air fryer to 390 degrees and a cooking time of 11 minutes. Cook frozen hash browns and at the 8 minute mark, open your air fryer lid and carefully flip.

Close the lid and continue to air fry hash browns for the additional 3 minutes. Once they are golden brown, remove from the air fryer and serve as is or crumble.

How to serve

Serve these crispy hash browns with your favorite breakfast items like bacon, eggs, and sausage (or biscuits with sausage gravy). They are great dipped in ketchup like a giant tater tot.

Something we love to do is to break up the air fried hash brown after it has been cooked and add it to a breakfast burrito. Delish!

By and large, my favorite hash brown patties come from Trader Joe's! We love them. They get the crispiest, the ingredient list is not terribly long, and they last amazing. Whenever we stop by TJ's we always make sure to pick up a pack or two.

This air fryer frozen hash browns recipe will work for any brand of hash brown patties, not just Trader Joe's, as they are all around the same size.

Reheating hash browns in the air fryer

If you are making multiple patties at once, but don't finish them all, you can simply reheat them in the airfryer. Reheat for 2 minutes.
