Learn how to make Ninja Creami strawberry sorbet with just 3 simple ingredients. Making ice cream at home could not be easier!

homemade strawberry sorbet in a small bowl with fresh strawberries scattered around.

I have wanted a Ninja Creami machine for a little while, so when I saw an awesome deal during the month of November, I took the leap. I have never had an ice cream maker before, but I figured this would be a great option for our family. I love my Ninja air fryer, and trust the brand to be easy to use, easy to clean, and to do what it says it's going to do. I was right!

This machine creates a pint of ice cream (or other frozen creations) and that's perfect for our family to enjoy and allows us to make new creations often.

Why you'll love this homemade strawberry sorbet recipe:

    • Only 3 ingredients and very little hands on time. This Ninja Creami sorbet is so simple!
    • A healthier way to enjoy ice cream. I always think that if I am making something at home, it is likely to be better for me than what I can get at the store. And while I love myself a pint of Ben and Jerry's, making ice cream at home means no unnecessary ingredients/additives.
    • Kid friendly: My toddler loved this! He loves strawberries and kept asking for more!

    Ingredients

    • Strawberries (fresh or frozen). I love using frozen strawberries here. I take them out and let them sit on the counter for several hours or in the fridge overnight. The result? Very sweet, very SOFT strawberries that have thawed into their own delicious syrup. They are incredibly easy to mash with a fork, as well. Fresh strawberries work great too, you may have to use a blender to mash them if they are too firm.
    • Heavy cream: Heavy cream adds creaminess and also makes for a softer sorbet.
    • Sugar: Plain granulated sugar will work just fine here, the granules are small enough that it dissolves into the strawberry mixture when stirred. I have seen some people choose to use alternative sweeteners, like monk fruit sweetener, but I haven't tried that yet!

How to make stawberry sorbet in the ninja creami

Thaw frozen strawberries in a bowl. Once thawed, mash with a fork or in a food processor or blender. If using fresh strawberries, remove stems, and puree in the food processor or blender.

    fork mashing thawed strawberries.

Add pureed strawberries to empty Ninja Creami pint container. Add sugar and heavy cream. Stir with a fork until completely combined. Make sure that the contents does not exceed the max fill line. Place pint lid on top.

Place into the freezer, ensuring that the pint is resting flat. Allow to freeze for at least 24 hours.

Once completely frozen, remove the lid from the container and place into the Ninja Creami outer bowl. Secure the black lid with blades (you should hear a click).

Plug in machine. Place bowl onto the Ninja Creami machine and make sure it is secure (again, you should hear a click).

Press the sorbet button and allow the go through the whole cycle, it will take just a few minutes.

Remove lid, if the mixture looks crumbly, place lid back on and click the respin button.

    Once finished, serve immediately.

What button should I select on my Ninja machine?

The sorbet button will work best, due to the low fat content of this dessert.

Help, my sorbet came out crumbly!

My sorbet came out crumbly the first spin, and because I like really creamy ice creams and sorbets, I decided to trying spinning it again. After a repin, the mixture came out perfectly!

Why do you need to add sugar?

Depending on the ripeness of your strawberries, you may or may not need to add sugar. You will see that I only added a very little bit to this recipe, and it was more than sweet enough for our preferences. The frozen strawberries are perfectly sweet.

Next time I make strawberry sorbet in the ninja creami, I am going to omit the sugar!

    Why add heavy cream?

One of the reasons that people make sorbet is to have ice cream while avoiding dairy. Not all sorbets are dairy free. The reason for adding in the heavy cream here is to help the sorbet be softer by adding in fat. If it isn't added, the finished sorbet will become quite hard in the freezer in not enjoyed immediately after spinning.

You can omit it if you don't mind the texture change, or use a plant based alternative, like coconut cream.

Coconut milk or coconut cream would work! You want a non dairy milk a higher fat content. You can also use juice, if preferred. If you do, run the Ninja Creami on the sorbet function.
