This creamy boursin pasta with chicken is an easy weeknight dinner with tons of flavor. It's a pasta dish that is full of protein and can be on the table in less than 30 minutes.
So what is boursin pasta?
This is not the same as the Tik Tok Boursin Pasta, although I am sure that is delicious. That recipe is baked in the oven and more similar to the Tik Tik Feta recipe that was all the rage a few months back. I am loving all of the delicious recipes to come out of the app though! Gigi Hadid Vodka Sauce pasta that she shared a few years ago is still a favorite in our house.
This recipe for creamy pasta with boursin cheese is made on the stove top and has chicken, shallots, peas, and bacon. It is full of flavor and richness (thanks to the boursin cheese on both of those accounts). And it feels fancy too. It reminds me a lot of this Chicken Alfredo Pasta with Bacon!
I love adding the chicken and bacon to this dish for some added protein and to make the meal more filling.
What is Boursin cheese?
I am sure you have seen boursin pasta at the store before (there is a 3 pack available at Costco). It comes in a small box and then the cheese itself is wrapped in foil. It is crumbly and soft, and a great addition to cheese boards with crackers.
Boursin cheese is very creamy and melts well. It is comparable to french cream cheese that has been flavored with herbs.
We love Boursin cheese a lot of ways, including as a burger topper on this Boursin Burger with Mushrooms and Arugula and as a sauce for Creamy Boursin Chicken.

How to make boursin pasta sauce dish
Cook bacon and set to the side to drain off some of the grease. Crumble bacon.
Cook pasta according to the packaging instructions. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water for possible use later.
Begin by heating up olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper and add to the pan. Brown on one side (5-6 minutes) and then flip and brown on the other side. Continue pan frying until the chicken breasts reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F and are cooked through.
Remove chicken from the skillet and place to the side. Add sliced shallots and minced garlic and saute for 1-2 minutes.
Deglaze the pan with white wine and scrap up any bits with a wooden spoon. Add in chicken stock.
Add boursin cheese to the pan and allow to melt. Add in freshly grated parmesan. Stir to combine and create the Boursin cream sauce.
Add frozen peas, crumbled bacon, cooked pasta, and cooked chicken that has been diced or sliced.
Stir to combine. Add additional stock or reserved pasta water if necessary.
Serve Boursin chicken pasta warm.
Recipe Tip
The boursin cheese is very thick and creamy, but if you want to make it go a little farther you can add some additional liquid. Some options are chicken stock, reserved pasta water, or heavy cream. Start with one fourth of a cup and add more as you find necessary.
Variations
- Swap out the chicken and bacon and use italian sausage! I love it this way and it uses less time and cooks a bit faster too!
- Make it vegetarian. You can easily leave out the bacon and chicken and make this a vegetarian dish. In fact, Boursin just recently came out with a vegan boursin cheese!
- Swap out the peas for green beans, asparagus, broccoli, or even spinach!
- Add sun-dried tomatoes or fresh tomatoes for even more flavor.
- Make this boursin pasta recipe a bit spicy by adding in a ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes!
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. The pasta will soak up the majority of the sauce as it sits, so the dish will be drier than when first served.
