Looking to make a decadent dessert using your Ninja Creami? Try out this Ninja Creami Chocolate Ice Cream! It uses simple, quality ingredients for a creamy sweet treat you'll love.

two scoops of chocolate ice cream in a bowl.

Before getting the Ninja Creami, I had never made homemade ice cream before. Now, I'm hooked! It's so easy to do and the combinations and flavor possibilities are endless.

I started out by making a fruity frozen concoction with this Ninja Creami Strawberry Sorbet. I thought a classic chocolate ice cream recipe should come next, and it did not disappoint! I honestly don't know which is my favorite because they are both so good. But this is the best Ninja Creami Chocolate Ice Cream, in my opinion!

How does the Ninja Creami work?

The Ninja Creami works a little differently than standard ice cream makers. Rather than churning first, and then freezing, the Ninja foodi does the opposite!

To start, you make your creation using whatever ingredients you would like. Whether it's a custard-like base with eggs, a dairy free ice cream, or classic vanilla, you simply measure and mix it all and place it into one of the Ninja Creami pint containers.

Then you freeze it for at least 24 hours until it is very cold.

Next up, it gets turned into ice cream!

The pint is placed within the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami machine and you can choose one of the 7 settings that correlates with whatever you are making.

The blades on the Ninja are not sharp (it's not a blender) but instead they act to shave the ice cream base very finely and turn it into ice cream!

If it isn't creamy enough for you, you can respin it.

The end result is delicious and the whole process is very straight forward.

How to Make Chocolate Ice Cream in the Ninja Creami

Microwave cream cheese in a microwave safe dish for 10 seconds.

Add softened cream cheese to a bowl along with granulated sugar, vanilla, and cocoa powder. Mix well until it resembles frosting.

Pour into the Ninja Creami pint container and secure lid. Place in the freezer, making sure it is level so that the mixture doesn't freeze above the fill line. Allow to freeze for at least 24 hours.

Once frozen, remove lid and place pint into the outer bowl of the device. Secure lid with blades and turn on the device. Select the "ice cream" function and allow to go through the entire cycle.

If the ice cream appears crumbly, respin if necessary. Enjoy!

Recipe Tip

Make sure to use a quality cocoa powder here, as it will be the main flavoring component for the ice cream. You can use whatever your favorite brand is and choose milk chocolate, dark chocolate, anything you like!

Melted chocolate chips can be used as well in place of the cocoa powder. Melt 2 tbsp. of chocolate in the microwave or on the stovetop before incorporating into the sugar and cream cheese.

Optional Mix-ins

Add these toppings after churning by selecting the mix ins button.

  • mini chocolate chips
  • 1-2 tablespoons of peanut butter
  • mini peanut butter cups
  • roughly chopped candy bars (kit kats, snickers, etc.)
small bowl of chocolate ice cream with a spoon.

Can I use chocolate milk to make ice cream in the Ninja Creami?

You totally can. Honestly, almost anything can be turned into some version of ice cream using the Ninja! If you want to go super simple, use 2 cups of chocolate milk (Whole milk is best so that the ice cream has enough fat content to be creamy) and freeze that in the pint container. Churn as normal and enjoy! A super simple, 1 ingredient chocolate ice cream.
