Potstickers, or gyoza, are tasty wonton dumplings stuffed with all kinds of fillings like meats and veggies. Making frozen potstickers in the air fryer quickly makes them crispy without having to add too much oil.

Potstickers are a tasty appetizer that you can find at many asian restaurants. They are dumplings that have been fried in hot oil for a crisp outer crust. They are delicious but not the healthiest because of the amount of oil used. By making them in the air fryer, you are able to cut down on the oil while still maintaining a golden brown outer shell. This is actually one of my favorite air fryer appetizers, as it is more unique and generally dairy free. Air fryer frozen dumplings, gyoza, or potstickers, whatever you want to call them, they all refer to the same thing.

The air fryer model I use is the Ninja Foodi Deluxe 12-in-1. I'm obsessed with it. I just got it (thank you MIL!) so we are still in the honeymoon phase, but I am using it multiple times are day. Highly recommend. Any model of air fryer will work to make potstickers, you may just have to work in stages if the basket is smaller. The first thing I made in my air fryer was these frozen air fryer hash brown patties.

What type of potstickers should you air fry?

These air fryer frozen potsticker instructions work for basically any type of potstickers, so go ahead and use your favorite! Costco always has some great varieties in stock, but truly any well stocked grocery store will carry them.

If your potstickers are much bigger that normal or you are air frying fresh potstickers, you may have to adjust the timing a few minutes up or down.

What do you need to air fry gyoza?

  • 10 frozen potstickers (the package may also say gyoza or wontons)
  • Oil (for brushing or spraying)

That's it!

How to cook frozen potstickers in air fryer

Place frozen potstickers in a single layer in the bottom of your air fryer basket.

  • frozen potstickers in a circle in an airfryer basket
  • potstickers halfway through the cooking process
  • potstickers once through the cooking process

Set temperature to 390 degrees and 12 minutes. Air fry potstickers for 6 minutes.

At the 6 minute mark, open lid and flip the potstickers. Close lid and continue cooking for the remaining time.

How to keep air fried potstickers from drying out?

Make sure to use enough oil. Because the wonton wrappers are not fried first (like many frozen foods), they have the tendency to dry out if not enough oil is used to coat them before cooking. You can either use your favorite spray (I use avocado oil spray, canola oil spray would work as well), or brush on whatever oil you would use to traditionally fry them. Compared to traditional fried dumpling, you are truly using a tiny bit of oil.

As long as the gyoza are fully coated, and you do not cook them too long, they will not dry out.

How to serve fried potstickers?

Potstickers, or gyoza, are often served with straight soy sauce or a sweetened soy sauce mixture. Our favorite dipping sauce combines 2 tablespoon soy sauce, with ½ tbsp. of honey or brown sugar, and a dash of sambal oelek for heat.

Can you reheat air fried potstickers?

Yes, but they won't get as crisp as the original fry. Air fry for 3 minutes, checking and flipping after 2 minutes, to reheat dumplings in air fryer.
